Good morning. Welcome to the 7am Winner’s Attitude Adjustment meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. My name is __________, and I am an alcoholic. Would those who care to please join me in the Serenity Prayer?
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other, that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
I have identified myself as an alcoholic. Are there any other alcoholics present?
Are there any newcomers in the room or on zoom in their first 30 days of sobriety? Not to embarrass you, but to get to know you better, please tell us your name and the nature of your disease.
Are there any visitors from outside the Greater Los Angeles area in the room?
If you are on Zoom and outside the Greater Los Angeles area please type your name and where you are from in the public chat, we will acknowledge you at the end of the meeting.
It is a custom in Southern California to read a portion of Chapter 5, “How it Works,” from our book Alcoholics Anonymous. This morning, I have asked ______________ to read it.
I have also asked ____________ to read, “The Twelve Traditions.”
(CHAPTER 3 reading is optional)
I have asked _________ to read a portion of Chapter 3. “More about Alcoholism.”
I will now turn the meeting over to our chip person _______.
(Chip person will take over here.) (The secretary will recognize birthdays.)
If you have an upcoming birthday, please let the secretary know in advance.
This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous so that alcoholics may share their experience, strength, and hope with one another. If you are not an alcoholic, you are welcome to stay and listen. A reminder to the group: If you are in the room, please turn your cell phone off, or place them on mute or vibrate. If you are on Zoom, please remain on mute when not sharing. If you share, please keep your profanity to a minimum.
We now ask that those on Zoom remain patient while those of us in person go around the room and identify ourselves.
(Speaker now shares 10-15 minutes. The secretary will give a 2-minute warning)
We will now pass the basket for the 7th tradition, which states that every group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions. If you are on Zoom, please support this meeting and donate using Venmo which you can access via links on our homepage at winnersaa.com.
Our timer for today’s meeting is______. Shares are for a total of 3 minutes. After 2 minutes and 30 seconds the timer will go off giving you 30 seconds to wrap up. Please be considerate of the timer so that as many people as possible have an opportunity to share. And if you shared yesterday, we ask that you PLEASE consider not sharing today.
The meeting is now open for sharing, we ask if you have had a drink in the past 24 hours, you do not participate, just stay and listen and come back tomorrow. The sharing portion of the meeting will end at 7:55am. Who would like to share?
(At 7:55am, turn the meeting over to the secretary to close the meeting)
